Heart-Shaped Chocolate Macaroons (No Coconut)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional: powdered sugar or melted chocolate for decoration

Step-by-Step Method

1. Preheat & Prep

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

2. Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

3. Cream Butter and Sugar

  • In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).
  • Beat in egg and vanilla until smooth.

4. Combine

  • Gradually fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.

5. Shape the Hearts

  • Lightly flour your hands or a small heart-shaped cookie cutter.
  • Shape dough into small hearts, about 2 inches wide, and place on the baking sheet 1–2 inches apart.

6. Bake

  • Bake 10–12 minutes until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
  • Cool completely on the tray before transferring.

7. Optional Decoration

  • Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with melted chocolate once cooled.
