Ingredients

  • For the Cupcakes:
    • 1 box chocolate cake mix (or homemade chocolate cake)
    • Eggs, oil, and water (as per cake mix instructions)
  • For the Frosting:
    • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 4 cups powdered sugar
    • 2–3 tablespoons milk
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For Decorating:
    • Mini chocolate chips (for eyes)

Instructions

  1. Bake the Cupcakes:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions. Fill cupcake liners in a muffin tin about 2/3 full with batter. Bake for 18–20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
  2. Make the Frosting:
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing well. Add vanilla extract and milk, adjusting the consistency until it’s smooth and fluffy.
  3. Frost the Cupcakes:
Using a piping bag fitted with a round tip (or a plastic bag with the corner cut off), pipe the frosting onto each cupcake in a ghostly swirl. Start from the center and work your way out to create a ghost shape.
  4. Add Eyes:
Place two mini chocolate chips on each cupcake for the ghost's eyes.
  5. Serve:
Arrange the ghost cupcakes on a spooky platter. Enjoy them at your Halloween party or give them as treats!

These Halloween ghost cupcakes are a fun and festive way to celebrate the season. Easy to make and delightful to eat, they’re sure to be a hit with kids and adults alike. Happy Halloween!
